The Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences is organizing a Czech Immersion Summer

Camp, which will expose participants to the Czech language and culture.

The camp will run from August 14 - 20, 2016 in the “VAN- Es Camp & Conference

Centre” (51244 Range Rd 220) which is located 15 minutes outside of Sherwood Park

The camp will consist of Czech language classes, Czech cultural activities, games for all

ages, leisure time in the pool and hot tub, evenings of Czech films for children and

adults, and excellent camp food! For those who were registered in the Czech language

lessons that SVU organized this year, this camp will be a chance to practice and improve

on what you have learned with a professional Czech instructor. For those who did not

attend these classes, it will be a chance to learn or improve.

The programme will accommodate various age groups and skill levels. However, our

main objective is to expose the youngest generations of the local heritage community

with Czech background to the Czech culture and language. To this effect, it is most

desirable for members of the local Czech community to attend this camp to provide an

authentic immersion and unforgettable experience for all.

Families with small children are welcome to join. Children will have to be supervised

by their parents, grandparents or great-grandparents during the entire camp.

The registration fee for SVU members is $75 per adult, $50 per child and $200 per family

of 2 adults and 2 children. Registration fee for non-members is $150 per adult, $100 per

child and $300 per family of 2 adults and 2 children. Besides registration fees, camp

expenses will be covered by SVU Edmonton. These include accommodation, meals,

classes, activities and swimming pool entry.
